Shipping Information


Shipping and handling charges for shipment via First Class or Priority Mail will be automatically added to the shopping cart.

Shipping and handling charges are composed of a Base Charge and Per Item Charge.  The Base Charge is $5.00, regardless of the combination of items ordered.  The Base Charge is only added once per order.  The Base Charge may be shown on some PayPal screens and messages as "handling".  The Per Item Charge is shown in the listings for most items.  For items with prices under $15, refer to Minimum Order/Small Order Charge.  (Base Charge is not applied to orders that only include printouts or 1000 feet of cable.) 

To have your order shipped via Express Mail, add Express Charge.
Canadian customers, please make sure to add Shipping to Canada.

Orders received during the week will normally ship within 36 hours.  The US Postal Service does a great job, delivering most HomePhoneWiring.com shipments by Priority Mail in under three days.  Orders received after the Friday mail run and on the weekend will normally ship on the following Monday.  Keep in mind that many (most?) internet vendors are actually closed during the weekend and simply don't point out that your order won't ship on Saturday or Sunday.  You will be advised by email if your order will not be shipped by the next weekday.  Orders shipped by Express Mail should arrive one or two days after shipment, depending on your location.  Orders shipped by Priority Mail should arrive at most location approximately two to five days after shipment.  Orders with a shipping weight under 13 ounces may be shipped by First Class Mail and should arrive at most locations approximately two to seven days after shipment.  Holidays and other factors could delay your order either prior to shipment or enroute.  Please allow sufficient time for your order to arrive prior to your wiring project.

Weekend Shipping

Please note: As in many small towns, the post office here is closed from Friday afternoon until Monday morning and on all Federal Holidays.  Even if you add the Express Shipping Charge, orders received after the Friday mail run and on the weekend will not normally ship until the following Monday.

If you are placing an order on Friday afternoon, Saturday, Sunday, a Federal Holiday, or any day followed by a Federal Holiday, please accept that your order will probably not be shipped until the next day the local post office is open, even if it includes Express Charge.

A Comment About Shipping Charges

Many vendors claim to offer "free shipping".  We all know that shipping is not really free.  USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL each have annual revenues in the billions.  "Free shipping" really just means that the prices have been set high enough to ensure that the cost of shipping is included.  That is why I used the term "shipping included" in the past rather than "free shipping".  It just seemed more honest. 

Most online order processing systems, including PayPal, make calculating true shipping costs difficult (or impossible).  That is why the old prices here "included shipping".  These online order processing systems make "free shipping" included in inflated prices an attractive and easy option for most vendors.  The coding required is easier and they make more money. 

Postal rates went up again on 05/14/07, which required adjustments to the prices.  Prices that "include shipping" penalize customers who order multiple items.  That would be compounded if prices were increased to cover rising shipping costs.  So I decided to change to separate shipping charges.  It took some work to implement and I might lose a little revenue on individual orders because of this, but I think it will be fairer to all customers, which should result in more orders and hopefully make up for any per order shortfall.  At least I'll know that I'm trying to do the right thing for my customers. 

If you've visited this page in the past, you will notice that most of the prices have been reduced significantly.  Honestly, the price for a single item with the shipping charge added is generally a little bit higher because of the increasing postal rates.  However, for orders that include multiple items, the lower prices and separate shipping charges will normally result in a lower total cost than the old price structure.  I think lower prices and lower total cost is a better deal than "free shipping".  Hope you agree!

Minimum Order/Small Order Charge

The minimum order is $15 of materials and tools unless the "Small Order Charge" is added to the order (shipping charges are not included in the $15 minimum).

Very few orders are received that total under $15, however experience indicates that those orders often require more time and effort to process than larger orders.  The great prices offered here for small items don't cover the cost of processing, packaging and shipping orders for a few small items.  If your order total is under $15, you might want to add more items to your order rather than paying the "Small Order Charge".  Essentially, you could get items worth approximately the same amount as the "Small Order Charge" for free!  However, I understand that some people may need one or two of the small items, but may not be interested in ordering additional items to cover a $15 minimum order.  I have provided the option of adding the "Small Order Charge" so that small orders are allowed and I can justify the time and expense required to process them.

If the items in your order total less than $15, you have two choices:
1) You can choose some other items you would like to add to your order to increase the total to $15.
- OR -
2) You can add "Small Order Charge" at the right to cover the cost of processing, packing, and shipping a small order.


Orders for under $15 that do not include the "Small Order Charge" will be canceled, a refund will be issued, and an email will be sent advising to resubmit the order.

Important note about your shipping address:
Part of the PayPal shopping cart security process is that only the shipping address is provided to vendors .  If the shipping address is not the same as the billing address and has not been registered as a "confirmed address" for the account, it will probably be reported as "unconfirmed" by PayPal.  If you have any doubt about whether your shipping address will be confirmed as valid by PayPal, please provide your home phone and business phone in the "Message to Seller" remarks field during checkout.  If you are a PayPal member and request shipping to an address that is not a confirmed address in PayPal, please provide your confirmed address, home phone, and business phone in the "Message to Seller" remarks field during checkout.  If you are not a PayPal member and you request shipping to an address that is not the same as the billing address for your credit card, please provide your credit card billing address, home phone, and business phone in the "Message to Seller" remarks field during checkout.  Cell phone numbers may help me contact you, but I will not normally use a cell phone number as the sole means of contacting you to validate an address.  If you provide a cell phone number, please also provide at least one verifiable ("listed") land-line home or business phone number.  Your address and contact information will only be used to validate and ship your order.  I value your privacy and will not provide your address and contact information to any third party (unless required by a court order, which seem extremely unlikely).  Any additional information you wish to provide that will help me validate the shipping address for your order will be appreciated and will help expedite your order.  If you request shipping to an address that PayPal reports as unconfirmed and I am not able to easily validate your address, your order will be delayed while I attempt to contact you.  For your protection, I will not ship to an address that I can't validate with a significant degree of certainty, which could lead to an order being canceled and a refund being issued.  Not all vendors are so strict about address validation, but I find that most of my customers prefer and appreciate this policy.

Your order will generate three emails.
Service at PayPal will send an email acknowledging your payment.  HPWSupport  at  HomePhoneWiring.com will send an email acknowledging your order when it is received for fulfillment.  You will be sent a third email providing tracking information for your shipment, either from USPS.com or PayPal when the mailing label is generated.  If you do not receive the first two emails within 48 hours, there is probably either a problem with your order or something is blocking these non-spam emails.  Send an email to HPWSupport  at  HomePhoneWiring.com to enquire about the status of your order, providing a phone number in case emails sent to you are being blocked.

Return & Refund Policy

Requests for refunds must be received within 15 days after you receive your order.
A refund will be issued for unused items returned undamaged.
Refunds will be reduced by a restock fee of fifteen percent to cover fees and expenses for processing your order and return.
Shipping charges are not refunded.

No refund will be issued for items returned damaged.  The items offered for sale are extremely durable and are well packed for shipment, so it is very unlikely that you will receive damaged items.  In the rare case when items are damaged in shipment, they may be returned for replacement.  No refund will be issued for replacement goods.

Products that have been removed from original sealed packaging or have installation tool marks are considered used.  No refund will be issued for these items.

If you don't want to keep a punchdown tool after you finish your installation, consider renting instead of buying a new one.  No refund will be issued for punchdown tools or blades.

Printouts damaged in shipment will be replaced, but no refunds will be issued for printouts.

Prior to returning an item for refund, send an email to HPWSupport at HomePhoneWiring.com, requesting a return authorization (RMA) number, indicating the item being returned and the reason for return.  Emails should be addressed to hpwsupport(remove-this)@(spam-stop)homephonewiring.com.  Sorry, you'll need to edit the email address to remove "(remove-this)" and "(spam-stop)".  The volume of email the spam bots generate to a web posted address without this measure is outrageous.  The RMA number will be sent back to you by email.  Please clearly mark the RMA number on the outside of the package.  No refund will be issued for items returned without an RMA number or not received within 15 days of the date an RMA number is issued.

You are responsible for all return shipping charges.  Return shipment should be sent to CEWIM LLC, PO BOX 282, BLANCO, TX 78606.  It is recommended that you use Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation, to ensure return delivery time is less than 15 days and to permit delivery tracking.  You are responsible for damage or loss of goods during return shipment.  You may desire to insure your shipment to protect yourself against loss in the postal system.  If you return the item without paying full shipping charges, your refund will be further reduced by any charges that must be paid for receiving the return shipment.  After you mail the return shipment, please send an email with the Delivery Confirmation tracking number to Support at HomePhoneWiring.com advising that the shipment is enroute.  A refund will only be issued when the return shipment is actually received and the items have been inspected.

After the returned item has been inspected and verified as unused and undamaged, your refund will be issued via PayPal.  If your order was placed without creating a PayPal account it may not be possible to issue your refund via PayPal, in which case your refund will be issued by check, payable to the same name used to place the order and sent to the same address as the order.

The best way to contact me is by email.  However, if you don't have access to your email account, you can leave me a voicemail by calling 614−675−2608 (my "eVoice" voicemail number).  Be assured that I will respond to your message.  I don't post a phone number that rings me direct because I fear it would generate so many calls asking for free advice with wiring projects that I might not be able to respond appropriately to paying customers or accomplish anything else.  (I can cope with advice requests by email because I can respond when time allows, but I couldn't respond to a constant stream of phone calls from people calling to seek advice rather than taking time to read the info on the site.)  When you give me your phone number, either by email or in a voicemail, it will only be available to me - nobody else will get your phone number from me.

Express Charge - Next Day or Second Day Delivery to Most Areas

The standard shipping charges automatically added cover shipping in the US by Priority Mail.

To order with shipping by Express Mail, add an Express Shipping Charge to your order.

The Non-Cable Express Charges shown at the right are valid for orders with shipping weight up to 6 pounds.  The item listings each show the shipping weight.  If adding these figures indicates that your order will exceed 6 pounds, please send an email to HPWSupport  at  HomePhoneWiring.com , providing a list of items you desire to order.  You will be sent instructions for ordering with the correct shipping charges.

The PayPal shopping cart is not capable of adjusting charges for different shipping methods, so the Express Shipping Charge is combined with the standard shipping charges to cover the cost of shipping by Express Mail.  During checkout, the Express Charge will be shown as a separate order item and the standard shipping charges will be shown as "shipping".

Express Mail delivery guarantees and delivery dates vary by location.  Next day delivery by noon or by 3PM is available to many locations 365 days a year, including Sundays and holidays.  However, some locations are second day delivery and some post offices do not make deliveries on weekends or holidays.  Check with your local post office to obtain information about your Express Mail delivery schedule.

You can also determine Express Mail Delivery Commitments by visiting USPS - Express Mail Service Commitments.  Use 78606 as the Origin ZIP Code and refer to the response provided for Drop Off Address: POST OFFICE. 402 4TH ST, BLANCO, TX 78606.

USPS normally obtains a signature for delivery of Express Mail.  If you are not present to accept the delivery, a delivery attempt notice is left and delivery is delayed.  If you will be present to accept delivery, for maximum security of your order, select Express Shipping Charge With Delivery Signature.  If you will not be present to accept delivery and the shipment can be left in a secure location, select Express Shipping Charge Without Signature.

The prices shown are in US Dollars and the shopping cart adds charges for shipping by Priority Mail within the United States.  I appreciate my Canadian customers, but must charge for the additional costs incurred when shipping to Canada.

You have the option of selecting shipping via Priority Mail International (6-10 days estimated delivery), Express Mail International (3-5 days estimated delivery), or Global Express Guaranteed (1-3 days delivery).

The Shipping to Canada Charges are approximately the difference between the shipping automatically added and the cost of shipping to Canada via the selected service.
